Songwriters: Brent Lamb, John Rosasco
Performers: Steve & Marijean Green
As mentioned on another Steve Green wedding song page here, I didn't realize Steve Green's songs were still popular choices for Christian weddings since their peak in the late '80s/early '90s. But what was old is new again (or at least "retro") so it's worth taking a look at these songs again.
Steve Green has had a long solo career in Christian music, with the release of his first album in 1984. He was known for his clear tenor voice, and has been nominated four times for a Grammy and won several Dove awards (the Christian version of the Grammy's). He has tended to stay on the conservative pop & hymn/worship style, and has also released several children's and Spanish-language albums.
This song is unique in that it's a duet between Steve and his wife Marijean. It comes from his 1988 album Find Us Faithful.
If your faith is important to you and your future spouse, this song is a great testimony to your mutual commitment to each other and God. It's a perfect choice for a unity ceremony.
Here we are at the start committing to each other
By His word and from our hearts
We will be a family in a house that will be a home
And with faith we'll build it strong
We'll build a household of faith
That together we can make
And when the strong winds blow it won't fall down
As one in Him we'll grow and the whole world will know
We are a household of faith
Now to be a family we've got to love each other
At any cost unselfishly
And our home must be a place that fully abounds with grace
A reflection of His face
