Performers: The Judds, Cher/Chrissie Hynde/Neneh Cherry

Mother-daughter country duo The Judds released this song on their album of the same name in 1990. It talks about the importance of always standing together - something that's a great wedding ceremony theme! It reached the top ten on both the American and Canadian country charts. Cher, Chrissie Hynde, and Neneh Cherry, along with Eric Clapton, recorded another version of it in 1995. And Westlife included it on their The Love Album in 2006.

It was the theme song for a couple of charity projects as well - Children For Rwanda, a project of Save The Children. And in 1995 it was the official single for Comic Relief.

Sheet music (piano/vocal, can be piano solo)

LYRICS

I'd gladly walk across the desert with no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite of bread I had to eat
I would swim out to save you in your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinking, let me show you what love means

Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don’t you think it’s time
Don’t you think it’s time

I would whisper love so loudly every heart could understand
That love and only love can join the tribes of man
I would give my heart's desire so that you might see
The first step is to realize that it all begins with you and me

Love can build a bridge
Between your heart and mine
Love can build a bridge
Don’t you think it’s time
Don’t you think it’s time

When we stand together it's our finest hour
We can do anything, anything, anything, anything
Keep believing in the power

Love can build ...
