Take My Breath Away

Songwriters: Giorgio Morodor, Tom Whitlock
Performer: Berlin
Category: 80s

The 1986 movie Top Gun featured this love song performed by American New Wave/Synthpop band Berlin. The song won both an Oscar and a Golden Globe that same year for Best Original Song. It hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and also hit number one in the UK. It was the last hit for Berlin. They disbanded the following year, although they have recently reunited to re-form the band and are even said to be working on a new album.

Other artists have covered the song since then, notably Jessical Simpson on her In This Skin album in 2004. It was part of a 2012 Glee episode ("Prom-asaurus") as well.

Sheet music (piano/vocal, can be piano solo)

LYRICS

Watching every motion
In my foolish lover's game
On this endless ocean
Finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning
To some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion
As you turn around and say

CHORUS
Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching I keep waiting
Still anticipating love
Never hesitating
To become the fated ones
Turning and returning
To some secret place to hide
Watching in slow motion
As you turn to me and say

CHORUS

Through the hourglass I saw you
In time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you
And turned to hear you say
If only for today
I am unafraid

CHORUS

Watching every motion
In this foolish lover's game
Haunted by the notion
Somewhere there's a love in flames
Turning and returning
To some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion
As you turn my way and say

CHORUS
